Google G Suite adds security features for enterprise admins

Google G Suite is launching a number of new security features that aim to keep these businesses’ data safe on its platform.

Admins can now, for example, force their users to use physical security keys to access data on the apps. They will also be able to manage the deployment of these keys and get usage reports.This will help employees to be protected from phishing attacks, one of the most common cybersecurity threats for a business.

ENISA study into taxonomies for incident detection and prevention

The main objective of this report is to provide relevant good practices in terms of taxonomies for incident detection and prevention for the CSIRT community. Additionally, it aims to provide conclusions and recommendations based on the qualitative assessment of taxonomies within the current taxonomy landscape on improvements that can be made on current taxonomies, such as what fields can be extended or added to existing taxonomies.

Guidelines for SMEs on the security of personal data processing

ENISA decided to provide further guidance to SMEs on how to adopt security measures for the protection of personal data, following a risk-based approach. In particular, the objectives of the study were to facilitate SMEs in understanding the context of the personal data processing operation and subsequently assess the associated security risks.

Online fraud is the most common crime in UK

According to the Crime Survey of England and Wales there were 11.8 million crimes committed in the 12 months to September 2016.

While traditional crimes such as burglary and car theft continue to fall, almost ten per cent of the adult population reports having been a victim of some form of cyber crime.This demonstrates how crime has changed, with fraud now the most commonly experienced offence, as still many frauds went undetected or never got to the police.

Key changes with GDPR

The GDPR will come into force from 25 May 2018 when it will replace the existing EC Data Protection Directive, bringing new legal rights for individuals, extending the scope of responsibilities for data controllers and processors and enhancing the regime for enforcement to include the risk of fines at up to 4% of an organisation's worldwide annual turnover.
The new regulation is in fact a major change in privacy and data protection, with many areas to be affected.
