UK's Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) is planning to create an automatic defence tool called "Great British Firewall" to block malicious websites countrywide and face cyber attacks threatening national security.
The project will be coordinated by the upcoming National Cyber Security Centre, a public-facing arm of GCHQ which will open next month to better coordinate the UK’s digital defence efforts.
The project is involving private service providers such as BT, Sky and Virgin Media.
The GCHQ cyber chief said the agency is already testing a number of 'automated defence' methods on government networks and domains against hackers to mimic government services.
