Today at Info Security Europe, panellists are looking at media coverage of security-related stories.
Every time the news media “gets it wrong” when covering security-related stories, they do a great disservice to their craft and their audience while increasing the communication gap between real security pros and the very people they work tirelessly to protect from bad actors.
This panel will evaluate how well the news media is informing itself and the public, whether they are adding to hype and misinformation problems, and if they are fact checking what they get from vendors and others with vested interests. Also, how security pros can help the news media do a better job of accurately reporting on security issues.
It will also determine how the media is living up to its responsibilities regarding adequately informing the public about security issues and identify steps security professionals can take to help the media do a better job of accurately reporting on security news and events.
