The European Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA) has published today, 1 June 2016, a new paper on cloud incidents. In it, the authors analyse current approaches to conducting a post mortem analysis of an incident, occurring in a cloud environment.
The paper also identifies the multidimensional challenges of cloud forensic investigations by signifying the most common problems experts are facing when investigating a cyber incident in the cloud. The analysis and the recommendations are grouped into three key aspects: technical, legal and organisational.
The paper offers an overview of the techniques, approaches and good practices for the analysis of incidents in the cloud, based on desk research.
It also provides recommendations and suggestions - in particular related to service level agreements (SLAs), security measures, and policies to make the post analysis activity more effective.
Key recommendations are made to cloud providers, law enforcement agencies and forensic experts as a result of this analysis.
