AON 2015 EMEA Cyber Impact Report - Assisting managers in understanding their organisation's risk profile

The AON 2015 EMEA Cyber Impact Report explores the relative financial statement exposure of intangible (cyber) assets compared to tangible assets among EMEA organisations. The report's findings should assist risk managers and EMEA business leaders in taking a broader look at their organisations' overall risk profile. Based on more than 500 interviews with organisations across EMEA, it provides fresh insight into cyber risk in EMEA.

The report addresses four macro area: 

  • Tangible versus intangible assets – a story of unequal risk
  • Data and security breaches – more common than you think
  • Management versus mitigation – the role and take-up of insurance
  • An industry challenge – limited experience with an evolving risk

Key findings from this EMEA Cyber Impact Report include:

  • Technology assests are 38 percent more exposed than tangible assets (on a relative value to insurance protection basis)
  • More than a third (38 percent) of businesses have experienced a material or significantly disruptive loss relating to a data breach or security exploit in the past 24 months
  • 38 percent of EMEA organisations see cyber as a top 5 business risk, and even more expect the level of cyber risk exposures to increase in the next few years.
